Look before you adjust

Check water using the method specified for your model; the 12-Pod shown here has a front water-level window. Check the lamp and, if fitted, the pump. Note changes in new leaves, unusual smells or loose debris. A yellow leaf alone does not identify the cause, so record the pattern and review growing conditions before choosing a treatment.

Keep light out of the reservoir

Light reaching nutrient-rich water can encourage algae. Keep the reservoir lid in place and use unused-site covers where the system calls for them. Covers appear in some supplier kit images, but final included quantities are not confirmed. If green growth appears, check for exposed water or gaps before considering a treatment for an edible-crop system.

Reset between growing cycles

Remove old plant material and clean the reusable parts following the manufacturer’s instructions. Cleaning away debris and sanitizing are different steps. Use only products suitable for the equipment and intended purpose, with the label’s directions. Do not improvise a chemical mixture or treat routine cleaning as a guarantee against every pest or disease.
